Governing Board
The Houston AMP Governing Board, chaired by UH System Chancellor and UH President Arthur K. Smith, will consist of the presidents of each of the academic institutions; Hon. Lee Brown, Mayor of Houston; Superintendent of Schools, HISD; local and state government officials; corporate leaders; and leaders in STEM education. The primary roles of the Governing Board will be to continue building cohesion and unity among the coalition members, and broaden the base of support for the program in the academic, industrial, government and civic communities. The Governing Board will meet annually.

H-LSAMP Steering Committee
The Steering Committee will be an inter-institutional hands-on working group, driving AMP communication, programs, and reporting activities. This committee, which will report to the Project Director, Dr. Bear, will participate in coalition decision-making and translate these decisions into actions at the institutional level. Members of the Steering Committee will be the Chairs of the nine AMP Institutional Leadership Committees (described below).

Drs. Bear and Wilson will attend committee meetings in an advisory capacity, and the Executive Director and Executive Assistant will be present at all meetings to advise, record proceedings, and otherwise facilitate the work of the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will meet every other month.

H-LSAMP Leadership Committee
All participating academic institutions and the HISD will have an Institutional Leadership Committee. Each Institutional Leadership Committee will consist of from five to ten members, including the deans of colleges with STEM programs, other academic leaders, and liaisons to each institution’s media relations and information technology units. The Institutional Leadership Committees’ tasks will be to implement Houston AMP programs and facilitate reporting of appropriate data at each institution as advised by the Steering Committee, and maintain communication with the Steering Committee. Leadership committees will meet biweekly for the first six months to assure that the AMP protocol is implemented smoothly and without delay, and at least monthly thereafter.
